Not all ventures are designed to fund their growth using early revenues, of course. In many instances, start-ups are frontloaded with high product and market development costs, calling for third-party investments. We have been involved in raising money for several companies and from that we built and continue to refine a structured fundraising process.

There is much more to raising money than an attractive pitch. The company's operations must back the story. Investors must be shortlisted strategically, attracted intelligently and put in a position to compete for a stake in the venture. Valuation claims must be supported proactively and terms negotiated selectively. Due diligence must be facilitated by the venture to avoid late issues that capsize a deal.

But of course, we also complete attractive pitches and business plans. And coach founders to deliver them persuasively, or even co-deliver them when we take a position in the management team.

Governments hand over large amounts of cash every year to help get tech ventures off the ground, be it in the form of tax credits, subsidized loans or grants. All require filling detailed applications, and chances of success are increased with experience.
